Dr. Sanmillan

I am José Luis Sanmillán, a highly specialized neurosurgeon, with more than 10 years of experience in minimally invasive techniques and extensive experience in endoscopic surgery and endoscopic spine procedures. During my career I have done several trainings and stays to develop these techniques in the best centers in the world. In addition, my training includes a Doctorate in Medicine and Translational Research from the University of Barcelona, where I obtained the qualification of Excellent Cum Laude and the European title of the European Association of Neurosurgery Societies (FEBNS). My objective is to improve people’s quality of life using the most innovative surgical techniques.

Experience

To date I have treated more than 600 patients with neurosurgical problems by endoscopic surgery, which makes me a reference in minimally invasive neurosurgery and endoscopic surgery.

I currently perform minimally invasive spinal endoscopy procedures on a weekly basis, which has allowed me to develop and refine the technique and implement a workflow that minimizes risks and complications. With our surgical protocols, the probability of complications, even including minor complications, is less than 1 in 100 patients.

On the other hand, the high specialization in endoscopic spine techniques guarantees optimal results, with a very high probability of complete recovery or a great improvement that increases the quality of life in patients with disc herniation, lumbar canal stenosis or disc degeneration (discopathy), or low back pain.
